Aelicia “Chocolate” Watson
Founder & Executive Director of Redeemed Women
Aelicia Watson, affectionately known as “Chocolate,” serves as an Urban Missionary to the women of the Bonton Neighborhood and women all over the greater Dallas metroplex. Chocolate has always had a servant’s heart and a strong desire to serve the Lost, the Least, and the Lonely. She began volunteering every month with several different organizations and ministries that serve the South Dallas – Bonton Community. In 2016 she answered God’s call into full time ministry. During that year, she felt that God was calling her to begin a new ministry, focused on women and their unique needs and problems. In 2017 in response to that call, she established “Redeemed Women”. This ministry will address the pain, suffering, brokenness and obstacles women who are victims of generational poverty face such as: homelessness, hunger, sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, educational deficiencies, transportation, physical and medical needs, unemployment, lack of a viable support system, and exploitation.
As the survivor of teen pregnancy, sexual abuse, bone cancer twice, breast cancer, homelessness and many forms of abuse and dire circumstances, Chocolate is all too familiar with the issues and many obstacles a woman faces and must overcome to discover their potential and act on it. Chocolate depended on Christ for strength to begin the healing process in her life and wants every woman in pain to know the same healing power she experienced in their lives. Women are naturally drawn to her warm smile and outgoing personality as well as the pure joy that radiates from her. Women see in her their own pain and are encouraged that they too can survive. She builds trust as she reaches out in kindness and love and listens to each woman’s story; then, helps her find ways to rebuild the brokenness in her life and look forward to tomorrow, the next day, and then the next….one day at a time. She is there to offer support, guidance, and encouragement and to share God’s steadfast love for women no matter what their circumstance or past and be confident that His grace covers all. Her heart’s desire is to live in an authentic community and offer empowerment and inspiration to ALL women in all walks of life of every ethnicity.
Chocolate graduated from high school in December 1999, received an Associates Degree in Child Development from Eastfield College in 2005, and was awarded an Administrative Certification in 2009. Before going into full time ministry, Chocolate was a Dispatch Operator in transportation management. In 2016 she was awarded the “Awaken” award presented by Priscilla Shirer on behalf of “Going Beyond” ministries. This award recognizes an exceptional women, who in spite of her own difficulties, ministers and serves her community.
She is married to her number one supporter, Kevin Watson. They have a blended family of three adult children. Chocolate and her husband Kevin reside in Dallas, Texas in the Bonton neighborhood where she serves. In her spare time, she loves to travel, attend social events, enjoys reading, and a good night of Karaoke.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound…
Author of Anointed: A Survivor’s Story from Unspeakable Pain to Undeniable Joy
In 2018, Chocolate published Anointed to share her story through horrific struggles and finding hope in God’s call on her life.
I was counted out a long time ago; but today I realize I am anointed by God for His purpose and I survived to share my path to redemption with you.
